Top 5 Tips - Bike Trip to Leh Ladakh with Pillion | Zanskar Valley Bike Ride | Spiti Valley Ride
Are you considering an adventurous bike trip to Leh Ladakh with pillion, Zanskar Valley ride with pillion, or Spiti Valley with a pillion rider? This is a common question I receive on my travel blog or this UA-cam channel: Can you really plan a bike ride to these remote Himalayan places with a pillion? And what crucial tips should you keep in mind for such a bike ride to Ladakh or Spiti or Zanskar?
The answer is yes, you can embark on a bike trip to Leh Ladakh, Zanskar Valley, or Spiti Valley with a pillion rider. However, it's essential to understand that this comes with a trade-off between the comfort of a solo ride and the shared experience with your partner, whether it's to save on costs or to enjoy the ride together with your significant other, best friend, or a close companion.
That being said, there are specific considerations and challenges when taking a pillion rider on your Himalayan adventure. Here are some critical factors to keep in mind:
Long Distances: The journey involves extensive distances, and each day's ride will be lengthy.
Bike Condition: Ensure your bike is in top-notch condition to handle the rugged terrain.
Luggage and Fuel: Plan your luggage carefully, including carrying spare fuel.
Rider and Pillion Size: The combined size and weight of you and your pillion rider.
Riding Skills: Your proficiency and comfort in handling a bike with a pillion on challenging routes.
By considering these points, you can make an informed decision about whether to ride solo, with a pillion, or find a balance that suits your comfort and adventure level.

Is August suitable? August is preferable due to less office work but worried about weather and road condition at that time. please suggest

    Hello Sir, Can you pls guide about the petrol pumps. As per another video of yours, last petrol pump will be in Diskit/Tangtse. Does that mean next petrol pump will be in Keylong and nothing else in-between the route of Nubra-Pangong-Hanle-TsoMoriri-Manali?

    @Dheeraj Sharma, I really find your content amazing and very informative. Can you please help me decide my itinerary? I am traveling on July 20, 2024. I will fly to Leh and acclimatize there for 2 days. I plan to do a bike ride from Leh to Ladakh with my wife as a pillion rider. Can you suggest the best route from Pangong to Hanle? Also, can I cover Nubra, Turtuk, Pangong, Hanle, and Tso Moriri if I have 5 days apart from the 2 days of acclimatization? I have moderate bike riding skills. I am asking from both a safety perspective and for a doable route with a pillion.

    Hello, we are going to Delhi on July 24th, from there if everything goes well we will reach Manali by bus on the 26th. We want to rent a motorcycle in Manali and drive to Leh on the famous highway. We would stay in Leh for several more days and want to tour the area from there, then one of us would go back to Delhi by plane from Leh, and the other would go to Zangla by motorbike, then back to Leh by motorbike and from there by plane to Delhi at the end of August. My question is, can I find a motorbike rental company in Manali who rent motorbikes under these conditions?

      Well, usually, if you travel from Shimla side, follow a well acclimatized itinerary, and stay well hydrated, don't exert too much within Spiti, then it shall be fine to travel.. You can skip overnight stay at Chandratal to be on safer side.. You can follow the itinerary mentioned here: ua-cam.com/video/g3dzmou9o3Y/v-deo.html

      You can do it surely, but I will suggest better stay in Nubra and take Nubra to Pangong Lake direct route even though that route is broken these days but still better to travel to save time and see different scenerary

      Please check 12 Tips to Prevent AMS - Acute Mountain Sickness in Ladakh, Spiti & Zanskar | Mountain Sickness Tips: ua-cam.com/video/8XijLqr6O0Y/v-deo.html Oxygen cylinder that can last 2-3 hours is the only precaution you can take.. there is no hospital at Pangong Lake, there is small one in Diskit but mostly it is Leh where some support will be needed. I replied to your other comments as well.

    Can I do leh to pangong day trip? Because if I get health issue in panong lake immediately can't come back to leh

    • @discoverwithdheeraj
      @discoverwithdheeraj 18 годин тому

      yes, you can always travel to pangong from Leh as a day trip. But like I said you can travel from Nubra to Pangong and instead of staying at Pangong, you can come back to stay at Tangtse which is lower in altitude and warmer too. But if you are concerned about health then you can do 2-3 day trip of Nubra and come back to Leh and then do Pangong day trip. Just that you will need to leave early morning.

      @@discoverwithdheerajThank you Sir. On a different note, we came back from Ladakh just 15 days ago. Your frequent updates on Leh-Manali highway really helped us to take that route while returning. My mom discovered your channel, but now I am really addicted to it. Ladakh has some unimaginable charm to it, jo ek baar jaata hai, wo wahin ka ho jaata hai!! My father (59 y/o) completed his bike trip from Odisha to Leh this month. No doubt, I will be travelling back to Ladakh v.v.v.soon.(next time will definitely explore few off-beat places!). Thank you Sir for your videos. They are truly motivating & highly informative.

    • @discoverwithdheeraj

      Nubra to Pangong road conditions are pretty bad these days...construction work going on so almost 30% of the road is like off-road conditions.

    • @discoverwithdheeraj
      @discoverwithdheeraj 15 годин тому

      Well, if you are OK in riding on bad road, it is about 30-40% of the distance then you will have a day, enjoy new route and reach quickly at pangong. So, it is a tradeoff. In case you have not ride in broken roads then I will say you can go back to Leh and do Leh to Pangong lake.

    @discoverwithdheeraj Hi Dheeraj Bhai Just need your expert opinion for my solo travel plan .... 25,26-Aug - Leh 27,28-Aug - Nubra Valley 29-Aug - Nubra to Pangong via Shyok (hope this road is doable on bike, it was closed in 2011)(carry spare fuel) 30-Aug - Pangong Tso, Spangmik 31-Aug - Pangong to Hanle via Chushul (stay at Hanle) 01-Sep - Hanle or Karzok based on night sky 02 Sep - Reach Leh 03-Sep - Leh-Delhi-Nagpur flight Is it good decision to travel from Pangong to Hanle via chushul or go back to to fuel pump in upshi & then hanle via chumathang Any fuel station in Changthang region ?? Thanks a lot for your support boss 🙂🙂

    • @discoverwithdheeraj
      @discoverwithdheeraj 18 годин тому

      Dost, you can make this trip, hope rains don't play much spoil sport towards the end of August and since you are flying to Leh, it is much better as less rains reach Ladakh. No need to carry spare fuel now from Nubra to Pangong. Now as of May 2024, you will find petrol pumps ar following places in Ladakh Leh, Karu near Leh, Diskit in Nubra , Tangtse near Pangong Lake, Nyoma near Hanle and Tso Moriri (Newly operational in 2024) Then if you exit on Manali Leh highway from Tso Moriri then next petrol pump will be Keylong. So if you are doing Ladakh circuits as above, you will need to manage about 290 km without petrol pump in case returning to Leh or Karu otherwise if you exit from Tso Moriri to Keylong/Manali then you need to manage about 420 km I feel that you should skip rest day in Pangong and go to Hanle and spend two nights there. You can use one night for rest after coming from Pangong and then next day you can make a day trip to Umling La Pass. Day 1 | Leh Rest day and acclimatize Day 2 | Leh local sightseeing and acclimatize Day 3 | Leh to Diskit/Hunder in Nubra Day 4 | Turtuk Day Trip Day 5 | Diskit/Hunder to Pangong Lake Day 6 | Pangong Lake to Hanle Day 7 | Umling La Day trip from Hanle Day 8 | Hanle to Tso Moriri Day 9 | Tso Moriri to Leh Day 10 | Rest in Leh/Buffer day Day 11 | Fly out

      It might be old vLog bhai, Umling La is wild and open now.. no restrictions anymore anywhere in Ladakh for any tourist places opened for tourists.. earlier it used to be army may or may not permit but since last couple of years, it is more like you can go anywhere anyplace that is opened for tourist in Ladakh by just paying the environment fee.

We were pleasantly surprised to learn of the new petrol pump in Nyoma enroute to Hanle last week. If possible please do consider updating the information on your website (which we read through extensively). It's a great alternative to YT and a real treasure house of information.
